AWKWARD FAMILY PORTRAITS
Awkward Family Portraits have been dishing out rockin’ roots music to the streets of Glasgow since 2016. With a roguish charm and signature style that elevates them far above the dusty stereotypes of the genre, AFP are a band that have one central goal and that is to get you to abandon all of the outside world’s hang-ups and move.
The brainchild of four likeminded musicians with a wealth of originality and technical skill at their disposal, you only need to catch the briefest glimpse of one of their live shows to feel an insatiable urge to make your way into the crowd and let loose!
ELIA DAVIDSON
Elia Davidson is a 20-year-old singer/songwriter from Dumfries, South-West Scotland. Elia first began performing at the age of 13, developing her talent around the Dumfries & Galloway music scene. Her delicate, tender songwriting quickly led to success in local and national music competitions, most notably winner of the Amnesty International Youth Awards Songwriting Competition in London.
Following the release of her self-titled debut EP in 2016, Elia took to the stage at venues and festivals throughout Scotland, including touring with the Creative Scotland funded Hit the Road project
Nova ScoTIA THE TRUTH
Nominated in the Best Hip Hop Category of the Scottish Alternative Music Awards 2019, Nova Scotia the Truth is a rap artist unafraid to challenge stereotypes and annihilate assumptions. She experiments with solo and collaborative works to create tracks with an independent sound. She released her debut solo EP ‘Re-Up’ in January 2020.
Her new single ‘Status Quo’ provides a commentary on the way we live our lives: layered vocals harmonise over an indie electronic beat produced by Yesha, as they critique the ways of our world. Her repertoire boasts features on BBC Radio Scotland, Mixmag, Red Bull Music, The Skinny amongst others.
THE CURB
The Curb are a post punk band from Dumfries that combine demented pil-esque grooves with a birthday party like fervour. With a wide variety of influences from heavier bands like Nirvana and idles, to bands such as Radiohead and Jeff Buckley, they make for an interesting sound. Having spent the past year practicing and writing songs, they are keen to get into the live music scene.
