X-Ray, by Max Thomson, is an audio-visual performance symbiotically combining sound and light in the form of oscillons and oscillographics. Using old cathode ray televisions, the performance aims to give a new life to antiquated electronics destined for the landfill and highlights the possibilities for sustainable, media-archaeological art practices.

Max Thomson

Home-grown and passionate, Max is a one of a kind musician. He seamlessly blends the roles of composer and engineer to produce music and sound that dares to be new and exciting. He has worked tirelessly for music in many capacities, working with a multitude of bands including his current band, YABBA. His style and taste is dark and industrial and the music and visuals he creates reflects this. Max recently completed his degree in sound design and audio-visual practice by repurposing a television to produce ocillographics. Upon discovering this new technique, Max has made it his mission to bring such a niche, unappreciated new art form to Dumfries in the hopes of inspiring others to think sustainably and creatively about the technology they possess.
