Q&A: David Culbert, Help Musicians
What is your job title?
Programme & Outreach Officer for Help Musicians Scotland.
What does that mean?
As the first point of contact for the charity across Scotland, I connect with our grassroots music community. I also oversee our grant programmes in Scotland.
How did you get into it?
I saw it advertised and went for it. I was aware of HMUK throughout my career and often signposted musicians their way.
Why do you like working for HMUK?
It‘s a great place to work. We drive a lot of exciting projects and support musicians and music sector organisations that are doing amazing work. It's good to see what we do making a difference.
If you could give 16-year-old David Culbert some advice, what would it be?
Don’t worry. Everything happens for a reason.
What are you most excited about right now?
I’m looking forward to XpoNorth this year. HM Scotland will be doing a panel on Health and Wellbeing in the Music Industry.
If you could go back and experience one moment in music - either for the first time or again - what would it be?
Dylan going electric.
