PLATFORM

Call-Out for Applications

Roles: Project Co-Ordinator (4)

Deadline - 5pm - Friday 2nd December 2022

DMC seeks four motivated, forward thinking young people (aged 18-25) to join the Platform project team in programming and delivering exciting, engaging music related activity which will form part of both DMC’s annual programme and the organisation’s flagship event “Dumfries Music Conference”. Alongside the role, successful applicants will be supported in developing an individual growth and experience path, and an industry-relevant portfolio.

WHO WE ARE

Dumfries Music Collective (DMC) is an independent, not for profit, community interest company that is based in the town of Dumfries, in rural Dumfries and Galloway in the South of Scotland.

DMC’s principle aims are to engage, educate, inspire and empower young people through music making activities. DMC provides a range of initiatives for young people, aged 16-30, who are looking to build careers within the music industry and creative industries as a whole. The organisation delivers an annual programme of events, projects and opportunities that take on many forms, including workshops, seminars, pop-up gigs, collaborative projects and mentoring. The annual programme culminates in a three day music conference in Dumfries, every October.

DMC is passionate about redressing the imbalance of young people having to move away from the region in search of career opportunities within music, and in turn seeks to support a strong pool of talent within the region.

A flavour of past, present and future projects can be found at www.wearedmc.co.uk

HOW IT WORKS

All four Projects Co-Ordinator roles are identical, and successful applicants will form a small project team who will work to DMC management team briefs throughout the year. The project team will be tasked with designing and delivering events and initiatives in line with DMC’s typical programme outputs - radio shows, pop-up gigs, workshops, seminars, Q&As and panel discussions. The team are expected to research, programme, and deliver it’s own events/programme items with the support of experienced members of the DMC management team.

Alongside the week-to-week work, all four applicants will receive regular developmental support and guidance on building and sustaining a career in music which includes sessions on specific practical skills, setting up and working as a freelancer, showcasing and marketing your own work, managing budgets, working confidently as part of a team, pitching for projects and a look at various industry standards. Applicants will gain valuable experience in working for a music organisation, and will be able to use this to build their own portfolio, or strengthen their existing CV.
